Your Course
Whether you’re a complete beginner or just starting to get to grips with throwing at the wheel, this workshop is an exceptional opportunity to learn directly from Maya, whose teaching style reflects her passion for functional and beautifully crafted ceramics.
In this one-day throwing workshop, you’ll focus on learning the basics, from coning and centring the clay to throwing basic forms – learning how to lift/pull as well as shaping the clay.
Begin by learning techniques to wedge and the centre the clay. You’ll then learn how to throw a cylinder as a foundation for shaping. Once well practiced you’ll move along to crafting more forms, including bowls . Maya will teach essential throwing techniques for creating these shapes and provide hands-on guidance to help you achieve confidence on the wheel.
If you’d like to keep any of your creation we’ll bisque fire them and glaze in one of the studio’s house glazes ready for you to collect.
